BHUBANESWAR: Two new books on medical education, authored by Prof. (Dr.) Shishir Kumar of the Department of Anatomy of Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital and other faculty members and aiming to help students and interns, were released by Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak here on Monday.
The book titled ‘A Logbook with Expectations: Ultimate Guide to Medical Intern’ has been authored by Prof. (Dr.) Kumar and his team members.
The other book titled ‘Understanding the Essence of Medical Education’ is also written by Prof. (Dr.) Kumar and other faculty members of the department.
‘A Logbook with Expectations: Ultimate Guide to Medical Intern’, Prof. (Dr.) Kumar said, had been meticulously crafted and would serve as an essential tool for medical interns combining practical guidance with a structured logbook format to help them.
“The book is a valuable resource for interns to navigate the critical transition from a medical student to a healthcare professional addressing clinical responsibilities, patient management and ethical practices in a clear and practical manner,” he said.
The other book ‘Understanding the Essence of Medical Education’ has contributions from several experienced professors and seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice offering unique perspectives and methodologies to advance medical learning.
The contributors to the book, besides Prof. (Dr.) Kumar, include Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Dr. Sitansu Kumar Panda, Dr. Biswa Bhusan Mohanty, Dr. Saurjya Ranjan Das, Dr. Pratima Baisakh, Dr. B. Shanta Kumari, Dr. Swagatika Pradhan, Dr. Lopamudra Nayak, Dr. Sujita Pradhan, Dr. Arundhati Kar, Dr. Dhiren Kumar Panda, Dr. Sistu Sree Vidya and Dr. Banita Patel. Both the books are available at the Department of Anatomy, IMS and SUM Hospital.
