Tribute meeting held at BJP state office to the great freedom fighter and tribal leader, martyr Bhagwan Birsa Munda

BHUBANESWAR:Martyr Birsa Munda, who was revered as a god by the tribal community, was a part of India’s freedom struggle at the age of 25. Shri Munda fought against the British between 1897 and 1900, said State Vice President Dr. Jatin Mohanty at a tribute meeting organized on the occasion of the death anniversary of “Birsa Munda” at the state office today.

Dr. Mohanty said that Birsa Munda was born on November 15, 1857, in the Munda tribe in Ulihatu village of Ranchi district of Jharkhand. In 1894, Shri Munda protested against the British for tax exemption from the people after famine and plague. During the British rule in the country in the nineteenth century, Birsa Munda brought together the freedom fighters of Jharkhand and started a revolution.
He became an embodiment of indomitable courage and admirable enthusiasm by fighting as a warrior against British rule, prejudice, superstition and slavery. Birsa Munda’s heart was constantly crying for the tribals and tribals. Birsa Munda was the protector of the country’s culture. He inspired people to protect water, forests and land.
He fought continuously against British rule to protect traditional land rights, cultural and religious beliefs. In August 1897, he attacked the Khunti police station. Then in 1898, he faced the British soldiers on the banks of the Tangi river. In January 1900, he faced the British soldiers again on the Dombadi hills and was arrested two months later and was in Ranchi jail. He died on June 9. Today, remembering this memory of him, Dr. Mohanty called on people to dedicate themselves to the country.
State Vice President Sipra Bajpayee, State General Secretary Sharda Prasad Satapathy, State Editor Pinki Pradhan and other activists were present at this tribute meeting and offered floral tributes to the photo of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
