Token system will not be revoked, says Minister Raja Swain

BHUBANESWAR: With farmers of Western Odisha continued their protest in State’s Bargarh and Sambalpur districts, Food Supplies and Cooperation Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain(Raja) on Wednesday said the token system will not be revoked.

 “The token system has been there and will remain so. This will help farmers get the right price of their agricultural produce. Also, transparency can be brought into the procurement process,” said the minister while asking farmers to adopt the new practice.If there are any issues, farmers can discuss with the government to resolve the same, he added.

Meanwhile, Labour Minister Susanta Singh held talks with Sambalpur farmers’ body and government officials at the Sambalpur Circuit House this evening. He has assured that the token system will be simplified. This apart, he will present the issues discussed at the meeting before the Agriculture Minister and Secretary.
