BHUBANESWAR:A three-day capacity building workshop for block coordinators of 8 districts was held at the Red Cross Bhawan in Bhubaneswar under the supervision of District Officer and District Junior Red Cross Chairperson Smt. Sonamika Roy. When a person serves with sincerity, the society becomes filled with humanity, health, service and friendship. All 80 block coordinators of Junior Red Cross from 8 districts namely Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurda, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Nayagarh participated in the program. Ganesh Chandra Patra, Honorary Editor of the Indian Red Cross Branch, attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest and urged the coordinators to work for the country and the nation.
He said that the coordinators should make continuous efforts to take the Red Cross to every house to spread the service. District Education Officer Sonamika Roy addressed the gathering. He delivered the address to the students to convey the educational elements of the training camp as the chairman. Laxman Swain, Junior Red Cross Officer of the State Red Cross Odisha Branch, was the guest of honour. District Joint Secretary Muralidhar Parida delivered the welcome address and District Junior Red Cross Officer Toofan Kumar Routray proposed the vote of thanks.
At the inauguration ceremony, Begunia Senior Group Officer and District Red Cross Editor Bhaskar Lenka, Additional District Educator Rashmibala Parida, and Junior Red Cross Officer of the State Red Cross Odisha Branch Laxman Swain called upon the prominent camp leaders to join the Red Cross service program.
Instrumentalists Laxman Swain, Surendranath Samal, Gopal Krishna Mishra, Smriti Sagarika Kanungo, Rabindra Nath Jena, Dilip Dora, Gulsan Das provided training.
Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack in Odisha 80 volunteers from Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Bargarh, Ganjam, Kandhamal districts were trained on skill development, first aid for fainting, heart attack, brain stroke, drowning, electric shock, lightning and thunder, snake bite etc., natural disaster management, voluntary blood donation, cyber security, road safety, Red Cross related programs in schools, importance of AI for Red Cross, social service with the help of social media etc. District Junior Red Cross Officer Shri Rautraya conducted the camp. Rashmiranjan Jena, Payal Priyadarshini, Rammani Sahabi, Amarendra Nayak, Prem Sagar, Santosh Kumar Sahu helped in organizing the program.
In the blood donation camp organized on this occasion, 25 trainees donated blood. Certificates were given to all. On behalf of the Indian Red Cross Society Odisha branch, the honorary secretary Shri Patra, District Education Officer Smt. Roy and the junior Red Cross officer of the State Red Cross Odisha branch Shri Swai were felicitated.
