BHUBANESWAR:The second phase of the revised Electronics Manufacturing Cluster Scheme has been approved for the construction of an electronics manufacturing cluster at Infovalley, Bhubaneswar. Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasad informed this in the Rajya Sabha today. He said that Rs 200.76 crore will be spent on this project. The Central Government will provide a financial grant of Rs 93.09 crore for this project, which will be built on 203.37 acres of land.

It is expected that more than 3 thousand employment opportunities will be created with an investment of Rs 1530 crore in this project. Apart from this, the Union Minister informed that two semiconductor units have been approved in Odisha at a cost of more than Rs 4 thousand 3 crore under the Semicon India program. The chips manufactured in these centers will be used in automobiles, aerospace, defense, electric vehicles, data centers, electronic equipment, etc. Similarly, National Institute of Electronics and IT (NIELIT) has set up two centres in Bhubaneswar and Balasore and has accredited 35 centres. Shri Jitin Prasad said that more than 25 thousand candidates have been trained in these centres.

For entrepreneurship development in Odisha, the Software Technology Park of India has set up an Electropreneur Park. It has been developed in partnership with Triple IT Bhubaneswar and Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association. Its objective is to promote electronics system design and manufacturing. So far, 37 startups have joined it. Apart from this, the Virtual and Extended Reality Entrepreneurship Center has been set up in partnership with the Odisha Government, which aims to promote the startup ecosystem in the field of creative technologies. So far, 25 startups have joined it. Similarly, the EM Tech Center for Entrepreneurship has been set up in partnership with the Odisha Government, BPUT, Rourkela Steel Plant and IIT Bhubaneswar. Under this, 29 startups have joined.
