BHUBANESWAR:The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released its Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings for the Odisha Licensed Service Area (LSA), covering extensive city of Brahmapur City in the month of December 2025. The drive tests conducted under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office, Hyderabad, were designed to capture real-world mobile network performance across diverse usage environments- Urban Zones, Institutional Hotspots, rural residential areas etc.

Between 16th December 2025 to 18th December 2025, TRAI teams conducted detailed tests for 360 Kms Brahmapur City drive test, 4.1 Km Walk test and 8 Hotspot locations. Technologies evaluated included 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, reflecting the service experience of users across multiple handset capabilities. The findings of the IDT have been intimated to all the TSPs concerned.

Key Parameters Assessed:

a) Voice Services: Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Drop Call Rate (DCR), Call Setup Time, Call Silence Rate, Speech Quality (MOS), Coverage.

The overall mobile network performance in Brahmapur city is summarized below:

Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have 99.76%, 83.87%, 99.07% and 94.53% call setup success rate respectively in Auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).

The poor Signal Strength in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G) during voice testing has been observed as 3.73%, 23.40%, 3.96% & 12.58% in the city IDT route in case of Airtel, BSNL, RJIL & VIL respectively

b) Data Services: Download/Upload Throughput, Latency, Jitter, Packet Drop Rate, and Video Streaming Delay.

The poor Signal Strength in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G) during data testing has been observed as 13.17%, 18.28%, 11.06% & 17.72% in the city IDT route in case of Airtel, BSNL, RJIL & VIL respectively.

CSSR: Call Setup Success Rate (in %), CST: Call Setup Time (in seconds), DCR: Drop Call Rate (in %) & MOS: Mean Opinion Score.

In Brahmapur City, the assessment included the areas nearby Ralaba, Golanthara, Girisola, Chikiti, Bendalia, Pathara, Chatrapur, Arjyapalli Aryapalli, Ganjam, Humma, Khandadiuli, Purusottampur, Kavisuryanagar, Baragam, Burupada, Sheragada, Pattapur, Digapahandi etc.

TRAI also evaluated real-world conditions at 1. Brahmapur New Bus Stand 2.District Collector Office Brahmapur 3.Govt Science College Chatrapur 4.MKCG Medical College Brahmapur 5.Municipal Corporation Office Brahmapur 6.Rock Garden Brahmapur 7.RTO Office Chatrapur 8. Shree Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple in Brahmapur City to reflect stationary user experience.
