BALASORE/BHUBANESWAR: The mighty Tara Patnaik’s Falcon Marine Exports under scanner after arrest of 7 including firm GM arrested. Tara is cousin brother to PCC chief Niranjan Patnaik and BJD MLA Soumiya Ranjan Patnaik and Mine owners like Dipti Patnaik and Jitu Patnaik.
Balasore Police arrested seven officials of the Falcon Marine Exports in connection with the leak of chlorine gas in its prawn processing plant at Khantapada in the district that left more than 100 workers, mostly women, sick on Wednesday night.
The General Manager, Production Manager, Human Resource Manager, two Supervisors, Shift In-charge and Safety Manager of the factory were arrested after interrogation, police said.
A criminal case has been registered in Khantapada Police Station in connection with leakage of harmful gas in the factory at Khantapada, said DGP BK Sharma.
The factory has been sealed following the mishap and a case has been registered at the Khantapada police station in this connection. Besides, three platoons of police force were deployed near the plant.
On the day, a six-member forensic team from Bhubaneswar begun probe into the gas leakage incident.
Earlier Labour Minister Sushant Singh, who visited the District Headquarters Hospital and met the injured, said the Labour Commissioner would investigate into the incident and find out whether any children were working in the factory.
