Talcher Kaniha celebrated its 30th Foundation Day

TALCHER/KANIHA: NTPC Talcher Super Thermal Power Station, Kaniha celebrated its 30th Foundation Day on June 2,2018. On this occasion, Chief Guest  Ram Kuber, Executive Director, Talcher Kaniha hoisted the NTPC flag at the administrative building of the power station in presence of senior officials & employees of the station to celebrate the special day.

 On this very day i.e. June 2, 1989, the foundation stone Talcher Super Thermal power station was laid by Former Prime Minister Late  Rajiv Gandhi.On the occasion Shri Kuber conveyed good wishes to the employees for completion of 30 years of power station.

Speaking on the plants’ performance, NTPC Talcher Kaniha station has achieved a plant load factor (PLF) of more than 90 % with generation of more than 3600 Million Units during the current fiscal year. The station ranked 6th best power station among the NTPC power stations during last fiscal year.

 During the last financial year the station has achieved the MOU targets. The station has complied as Zero Liquid Discharge station on 28.03.2018. The station has achieved highest solar power generation since inception with 14.178 Million Units. The station has planted 52780 saplings in 2017-18. Recently 10 MW solar power project of the station has been registered  as CDM(Clean Development Mechnanism) project under UNFCC( United Nation for Climate Change).

In addition during the last financial year , the station has been bestowed with NTPC Excellence Model for 2016-17(Winner) . The station has been awarded Kalinga SAFETY Aawrd (Gold)  for 2016. TSTPS has been awarded Best SAFETY award ( in the category of occupational health care ) from Odisha STATE Govt. for 2016-17 & NTPC Kaniha hospital awarded as the Best Hospital among NTPC Power stations  hospitals.

NTPC  Talcher Kaniha commissioned  60 kWp Rooftop Solar PV plant at  its Administrative Building in April 2018 under Sustainable Development initiative.With installation of 60 kWp at NTPC Kaniha, it is expected to generate 1 lakh KW per hour per year electricity thereby reducing around 95.28 MT CO2 per annum promoting green energy.

 During the current financial year NTPC Kaniha has conducted various CSR activities like distributed library books at Kaniha Degree & Junior college, Kaniha & Silpanchal Women’s College, Talcher, distributed essential items like Items like Dhoti, Saree, Chadar, Bed sheet and mosquito nets among the displaced around 80 tribal families  Rayagada village,Satkosia Zone, Angul .

School Bags & water Bootle were distributed at Badahira Upper primary School, a distributed Books & Utensils  to Old Age home “Sivanand Sevashram”,Gaham.Under vocational training on Mushroom cultivation and market linkage for sale of mushroom facilities was provided to villagers. In addition the station  providing water cooler cum purifier at market areas , provided drinking water through tankers & piped drinking water in villages of Kaniha block.To celebrate this occasion a colourful cultural musical programme was arranged at Recreation Centre, informed Amit Kumar Behera, Manager(Public Relations).
