NEW DELHI: Shri Sushil Kumar Lohani, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, chaired a VC meeting today with State/UT Panchayati Raj Departments on preparations for Special Gram Sabhas to be convened on 15th August 2025 in collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Discussions focused on mobilising Panchayati Raj Institutions (#PRIs) to promote renewable energy schemes – PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-KUSUM, PM JANMAN and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) – through last-mile awareness, community participation and integration of clean energy goals into Gram Panchayat Development Plans (#GPDPs), making the Special Gram Sabhas a grand success.
States and UTs were urged to actively engage citizens, SHGs, FPOs, cooperative societies, and youth groups, making the Special Gram Sabhas a vibrant platform for promoting renewable energy adoption and advancing sustainable, environment-friendly development in rural areas.
