BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ending all speculations, on Wednesday appointed 1987 batch IPS officer, Sunil Kumar Bansal , as new DGP of the State replacing incumbent Abhay, who is retiring by end of this month.
The 1987-batch IPS officer is currently serving as the Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB), Bansal will take charge as the Odisha DGP from January 1. Bansal’s Central deputation was till 2024 but he opted home cadre and posted as DGP.
Bansal hails from Rajasthan’s Jaipur and has been in Mumbai with IB since October 2020.“We welcome appointment of Shri Sunil Kumar Bansal as DGP of Odisha and look forward to his leadership.Wishing him a memorable tenure,” DGP, Odisha tweeted @DGPOdisha.
