BHUBANESWAR: The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of the SOA Deemed to be University here, on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hyderabad-based Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) for conducting liver transplantation on a regular basis.
The MoU was signed by Dr. P.Balachandran, Director-Liver Transplant, AIG and Dr. Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital in the presence of Prof. Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of SOA.
Dr. G.V.Premkumar, Dr. Shakti Swaroop and Dr. Krishna Chaitanya from AIG, Mr. Santosh Kumar Sahoo, Vice-President, AIG, Prof. Manoj Kumar Sahu, Head of the department of Gastroenterology, other doctors and officials from IMS and SUM Hospital were present.
IMS and SUM Hospital had successfully conducted Odisha’s first ever live donor liver transplantation in the month of March last.
Dr. Balachandran said AIG looked forward to working in close cooperation with IMS and SUM Hospital to provide treatment to the patients in the vital area of hepatobiliary sciences.
