BHUBANESWAR: The ruling BJD’s Sulochana Das on Saturday took charge as Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
Das was sworn in as the first woman Mayor of BMC. She was administered the oath by Director of Municipal Administration, Sangramjit Nayak.Sulochana Das had got 174562 and won the BMC Mayor election with a margin of over 61,000 votes.
“Took charge as Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation today. With the continued support of all MLAs, BMC corporators, officers, employees and people’s blessings, we will make Bhubaneswar a world class city as envisioned by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” Das said after taking over charge.
The Newly elected 67 Corporators were also sworn in en-mass today.
