BARIPADA/CUTTACK:Sudam Hembram of Jagannathpur village under Badsahi police station, who was missing for 11 years, has been safely returned to his home with the help of Mayurbhanj district police and administration. Due to the joint efforts of the district police, district administration and the Indian and Bangladesh embassies, Sudam Hembram, who was missing, has safely returned to his home with his family.
It is worth mentioning that Sudam, son of late Kishore Hembram, a resident of Jagannathpur village under Badasahi police station in Mayurbhanj district, had been missing since 2014. He had crossed the India-Bangladesh border and reached the Nawabganj area of Chapai.
On 28.10.2025, the Indian Embassy and the Bangladesh Embassy informed the Mayurbhanj District Magistrate and the District Police about Sudam.
As per the instructions of Bangladesh Embassy, Dhaka, Mayurbhanj District Police completed the identification and other formalities of Sudam Hembram. Later, a joint team of District Police and District Administration was formed and all the processes were initiated for Sudam’s repatriation.
Accordingly, on 06.12.2025, a team including Mayurbhanj District Police, District Administration and Sudam’s family members visited Haridaspur/Benapole Land Check Post in West Bengal. After completing all the official and border related formalities there, the Bangladeshi authorities handed over Sudam today. The family expressed their gratitude to the District Police and Administration for getting their son back after 11 years.
