BALASORE: The Subarnarekha river’s water level has crossed the danger mark at Rajghat village in Balasore district, posing a flood threat to nearby areas. Low-lying regions in Baliapal, Bhogarai, and Jaleswar have been affected, with significant distress reported in Baunsakhana and Matikhana villages.

Balasore District Administration has directed officials in Jaleswar, Bhogarai, Basta, and Baliapal blocks to cancel leaves and remain on 24-hour alert. Preparations for potential evacuations to flood relief shelters are underway, and stockpiling of essential supplies has been ordered.
As of now, 53 individuals were evacuated from Jaleswar Municipality area but have since returned home. Some areas in Baliapal and Kamarda have been partially affected without necessitating evacuation. The water level at Rajghat is being closely monitored:
– 02 AM: 11.40m
– 03 AM: 11.40m
– 04 AM: 11.40m
– 05 AM: 11.40m
– 11 AM: 11.09m
ODRAF deployment:
– Balasore:  two teams, located at Baliapal and Bhogarai.
– Mayurbhanj: two teams, located at Nedam/Jharpokharia and Tikayatpur/Rasgovindpur.
DIG,ER,Dr Satyajit Naik has instructed all SSPs to ensure VHF readiness, inspect operational boats, and confirm their locations. He’s also in touch with the SSPs and Collectors of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak to closely monitor the situation.
