BHUBANESWAR:    The court of 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar convicted accused persons namely 1) Rakesh Kumar Jena S/o. Govinda Ch. Jen, 2) Bikas Behera S/o. Bhagirathi Behera both are of village Dhaulimuhan PS. Khordha Sadar Dist. Khurda U/S 25 Arms Act, 1959 in STF PS Case No. 25/2020.

 Both the accused persons were found guilty and were convicted and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for (2 ½) two and half years and to pay a fine ofRs.10,000/- each and in default to go RI for two months for the offence U/s. 25(1B)(a) ArmsAct, 1959.1.

This case relates to seizure of 02 Pistols, 04 Country made Revolvers, one shotgun, One7.62 MM live SLR ammunition, 11 Nos of country made live ammunitions etc. from theexclusive and conscious possession of accused persons on 15.10.2020.2. In this case, on 15.10.2020 STF, Bhubaneswar had arrested above noted accused persons on Dasapur-Chandaka road near Chandaka, Bhubaneswar and recovered 07Arms & ammunitions from their possession, while they were waiting to deal the same with some customer.

 After successful investigation, charge sheet was submitted against the accused persons U/S 25(1)(1-AA)/27 Arms Act, 1959.3. During investigation the seized Arms and Ammunitions were also sent to SFSL, Rasulgarh for Ballistic examination and opinion was received affirmatively.4. This case was detected by Inspr Ashish Ch Jena and investigated by Inspr Ashok KumarGiri of STF. The prosecution of this case was conducted by Sri Rashmi Ranjan Brahma,Special Public Prosecutor, Bhubaneswar.

STF is the specialized wing of Odisha Police to curb the organized crime in the State.Illegal Arms and ammunitions/ gun running is one of the focus areas of STF and STF will continueits drive against such illegal arms dealers.
