STF nabs noted Wildlife Criminal Ranjan Mahakud

BHUBANESWAR: On the basis of reliable information, a team of STF conducted raid with the help of Birmaharajpur Forest Officials today i.e. on 24.04.2022 morning near village Jubaranisitapur under Subalaya PS District- Subarnapur regarding dealing/possession of wildlife products by wildlife criminals, as a result of which one wildlife criminal namely Ranjan Mahakud S/o. Late Pitambar Mohakud of village Jubaranisitapur PS. Subalaya Dist. Subarnapur was apprehended.

During search three numbers of Elephant Tusk weighing 10 kg and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession. The accused person could not produce any authority in support of possession of possession of such Elephant tusks, for which he has been detained and handed over to Birmaharajpur Forest Officials under Subarnapur Forest

Division for necessary legal action at their end. Enquiry is going on. Special drive against the wildlife criminals/poachers is continuing. Till date STF has seized as many as 27 Nos. of leopard skin, 18 Nos. of elephant task, 7 Nos. of deer skins, 12 Nos. of live pangolin, 30 kg 400 gm of pangolin scales, 2 Nos. of leopard teeth, 29 Nos. of leopard claws, 46 Nos. of live wild parrot with arrest of 65 Nos. of wildlife criminals.
