BHUBANESWAR: A delegation of BJD MPs including Dr Sasmit Patra, Dr Amar Patnaik, Sulata Deo, Sujit Kumar, Niranjan Bishi, and Mamata Mahanta on Friday met Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi and submitted a memorandum for starting passenger services for Paradip-Haridaspur railway line.
Locals of Kendrapara have been demanding for a passenger train in Haridaspur-Paradip rail line to connect Shreekhetra Puri, Howarah, Tirupati with Shree Tulashikshetra of Kendrapada. Running of a passenger train from Haridashpur to Paradip via Kendrapada would not only immensely help the local people but also fetch good revenue.
The BJD MPs urged the Union Railways Minister for starting passenger services at the earliest for the benefit of the people of Kendrapara district.
The Odisha Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been providing free land and 50% project cost for various Railway projects in Odisha.
The railway line between Paradip-Haridaspur railway line is open for goods and commercial traffic but has not been opened for passengers. This railway line connects the people of Kendrapara to the railway network. “
Months back, Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal had written a letter on to Railways Minister for running a passenger train in Haridashpur-Paradip rail line to connect Kendrapada with rest part of the country as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav.
