BHUBANESWAR: Backed by Prof Manoj Kumar Nayak’s towering leadership, 3 COVID-19 Hospitals run by the SUM and SOA University has earned huge praise for its better health services in Bhubaneswar, Kendrapara and Talcher.

The SUM Covid Hospital, Odisha’s largest treatment centre for the Covid-19 patients set up here by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan in collaboration with the state government, has been hogging the spotlight along with two other healthcare facilities created by the organisation.

While the 525-bed SUM Covid Hospital is a dedicated facility fighting the dreaded Coronavirus, the other two hospitals are the immensely popular Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, a teaching hospital ranked 21st in the country by NIRF, and the multi super-specialty SUM Ultimate Medicare which was inaugurated recently.

The three hospitals stand at different locations in the capital city away from each other.

The stand alone Covid Hospital has 500 beds besides 25 ICU beds and is one of the three such hospitals set up by SOA, the other two being at Talcher and Kendrapara. SOA had signed tripartite agreements for the establishment of the hospitals at Bhubaneswar and Talcher with the state government and public sector Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) which was supporting the venture.

The Talcher hospital has 150 beds and six ICU beds while the one at Kendrapara has 100 beds and 10 ICU beds. Doctors, nurses and paramedical personnel from the IMS and SUM Hospital man the three Covid Hospitals. All the hospitals are fully equipped to deal with the disease including ventilators.
