BHUBANESWAR: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) will be organizing a virtual two-day international workshop on Design, Construction and Operation of Long Distance Slurry Pipelines for Mineral Transportation from January 8.
The workshop is being organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), SOA’s faculty of engineering and technology, in association with Atha Group of Kolkata, Prof. (Dr.) D.N.Thatoi, Head of the Department, said.
The objective of the workshop was to facilitate interaction between industry, research and academic institutes to understand the design criteria requirements for hydraulic transportation of mineral through long-distance pipelines, CFD based simulation and modeling software, he said.
The subjects to be discussed at the workshop included pipeline design, engineering and pumps, construction and valves and operation, maintenance and safety, he said.
A plethora of international experts including Rajendra Talamudupula and Julie Harris of Ausenco Pipeline Systems, USA, Steven Young, Julian Rusconi and Mike Turney of Peterson and Cooke, USA, N.D.Rao, President, Projects, Atha Group, Amit Gangal of MECON, Delhi, Malcolm J. Harrison of GEHO, The Netherlands, Dr. S.K.Biswal, Chief Scientist, IMMT, Bhubaneswar, Hein Krimpenfort of Feluwa, Germany, A.S.Prasad of Essar Minmet, India, U.S.R. Raju of Arcelor Mittal, India and Jorge Martinez of Ausenco, Chile will be among resource persons.
