BHUBANESWAR: On Friday afternoon, Smruti Ranjan Nayak, Junior Engineer(JE), Naugaon Block , Dist. Jagatsinghpur along with Sri Babina Das(Private Person) has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demand and acceptance of bribe of Rs. 25,000/- from a Contractor ( complainant) for handing over of cheque for clearing his final pending bill.
As per direction of Sri Nayak, JE, Private Person Sri Das, while accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 25,000/- from the complainant in former’s presence , Vigilance officials nabbed both the accused persons Sri Nayak and Sri Das(Private Person). The entire bribe money has been recovered from their possession and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Nayak, JE from DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance Division PS Case No 21/2024 U/s-7/12 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.Investigation is in progress against accused persons namely Sri Nayak, JE and Sri Das, Private Person. Detailed report follows.
