BHUBANESWAR: Shree Lingaraj P.S Case No. 335, Dt. 27.12.2024, U/s- 326(g)/118(2)/109 BNS turned to Sec-326(g)/103(1) BNS.
Gist of the FIR:
On Dt.27.12.2024 at 10.00 PM, Complt. B.P Bishnu Maharaja, Hermitage in-Charge of Sri Tridandi Gaudiya Math, Kapileswar Road, Old Town, PS- Shree Lingaraj, UPD BBSR complained at Shree Lingaraj PS that one saint namely Akinchana Maharaja has been staying in the Math for last four months and has been threatening to the Complt. And others to leave the Math, or else he would kill everyone. But, on dt.24.12.2024 at night at about 01.20 AM, one noise of explosion was heard with illumination. The Complt. Came out and noticed the roof of the building of Tridandi Maharaja has collapsed and he was shouting in a pitiable condition. The local people of the lane were gathered and sent Tridandi Maharaja to Medical for treatment.
During treatment, he disclosed that Akinchana Maharaja has set fire through window with the intention of killing him in life for which he sustained burn injury. After hearing the matter from Mr. Tridandi Maharaja, he submitted report for necessary legal action against accused person namely Akinchana Maharaja. During treatment, the injured succumbed to injury in a private hospital at Cuttack on 28.12.2024 night.
Initially, there was a propagation of news that bomb blast occurred at Sri Tridandi Gaudiya Math, Kapileswar Road, Old Town on 23/24.12.2024 night which could not be substantiated by the scientific team, Bhubaneswar as no remnants could be found by the team during spot visit. The complainant also alleged in the FIR that the Math was set ablaze which negated the theory of bomb blast. However, during course of investigation, one damaged LPG Gas cylinder of 5 KG capacity has been seized from the spot. The dying declaration statement of the injured was recorded by the medical officer.
The injured stated regarding the involvement of accused Akinchan Maharaj in the above case. After the windows and doors got collapsed, he came out and found the accused Akinchan Maharaj fleeing from the spot. In the existence of ongoing dispute between the accused and the deceased group regarding possession and management of the Matha, and the Dying declaration statement of the deceased recorded prior to his death suggests that there exist a reasonable suspicion against the above accused for which he was arrested on 29.12.2024 at 10.30 PM and was forwarded to the hon’ble court. However, further investigation would lead the case to a logical conclusion.
