CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: Senior Vice President, eminent Industrialist and philanthropists , Mr Pankaj Lochan Mohanty will officiate as the President of Odisha Cricket Association after incumbent Pranab Prakash Das resigns citing personal reasons, informed OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera.
“Pranab Prakash Das has resigned from the presidency of OCA, citing personal reasons. A new president will be elected within 45 days. OCA Vice-President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty will serve as the acting President until the election,” Behera said.
As per the constitution of OCA, the new President will be appointed within 45 days. However, as the one day International match scheduled to be played in Barabati Stadium in February, the election for the post will be held after the match, he informed media persons. Till then, Mr Mohanty will continue as OCA President.
Mr Mohanty, a well-known Industrialists and Sports promoter and played a key role in development of Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Babby Das had joined as President of OCA on October 28, 2022 and his tenure was scheduled to end in October 2025.
Mr Mohanty has already successfully served as President of the OCA and has been able to handle the International Matches in the Barabati stadium with the active support from the State Government and State Police.
Mr Mohanty has promoting sports in general and cricket in particular in the State and helping out budding talents in the field. Mr Mohanty is also running a Cricket Academy in Cuttack.
