BHUBANESWAR: The winter session of Odisha State Assembly is beginning from Friday. The treasury bench, which boosted with success of 2 by-polls in Baleswar and Tirtol, said the State Government intends to push three Ordinances, including the controversial agri-marketing measure, in the House during the session.
“We have 10 Bills, including 3 existing Ordinances, to be passed in the House during this session,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha told reporters after a BJD Legislature Party meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Chief Minister Patnaik, who had attended Assembly Monsoon Session proceeding through videoconferencing, is likely to attend this session also through same medium. He on Thursday addressed BJD MLAs from his Naveen Niwas through digital mode. Patnaik asked all his party MLAs to sincerely participate in the proceedings of House.Arukha said Government would introduce Supplementary Budget on the first day of session.
Meanwhile,the BJP is geared up to corner the BJD Government during the Winter Session of the State Assembly.In the Legislature Party meeting chaired by the Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik here on Thursday, it was decided that deteriorating law and order situation in the State, women’s security, employment, the chaotic situation in the mandis, failure in Covid-19 management, scam in the PM Awas Yojana and border dispute issues would be taken up during the session.
It was decided that besides the problems affecting the State, the fundamental problems of the people would be raised in the session.Naik said though Central Government has provided crores of rupees for Covid management, the State Government is unable to spend it in a proper manner. Besides, Rs 15,000 crore DMF and OMBADC Fund and crores of ruees of CAMPA funds have been embezzled.The reopening of Puri Jagannath Temple keeping in mind the eagerness of the devotees and implementation of the Central Government’s Ayushman Yojana would also be taken up in House, Naik added.Earlier, DGP Abhay took stock of security situation in and outside Assembly.
