PURI/BHUBANESWAR: Section 144 to be imposed from June 4 Night to June 6 Morning in Puri, said Puri Collector Balwant Singh. In order to prevent movement of public during Snana Yatra, the district administration has decided to impose prohibitory orders under Section 144 from June 4 (10 pm) to the morning of June 6.
Snana Jatra ritual of Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be held on June 5. According to reports, as many as 150 Daitapatis are to be engaged to perform the rituals on Snana Yatra. While 60 Daitapatis will be engaged in the service of Lord Jagannath, 50 will be for Sri Balabhadra and 30 servitors will be in the service of Devi Subhadra. Whereas 10 servitors will be engaged for Sudarshana for the execution of the rituals.
The Puri Srimandir will remain out of bounds for devotees in view of the COVID-19 and the SnanaYatra rituals will be held inside temple premises at the Meghanad Pacheri with limited number of servitors.
The State l&PR department will make arrangements for live telecast and webcast of Snana Yatra and Rath Yatra rituals. The feed will be shared with media houses, he added. The Puri Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb and Chief Administrator Dr Krishna Kumar have urged the devotees to stay safe at home and watch the telecast on TV.
The bathing festival of the deities on June 5 will be conducted at Meghanad Pacheri inside the temple as per the rituals but with limited servitors and in presence of limited administrative officials. But, the centuries-old temple will not open for devotees.
