KENDRAPARA/BHUBANESWAR: The 2-days long trip to Kendrapara by Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan may or may not help BJP to boost its vote banks, the visit of Union Minister to Bhitarkanika National Park, will certainly help the National Park to further showcase its glory and scenic beauty.

“The second largest mangrove ecosystem in the country, Bhitarkanika is often referred as ‘Mini Amazon’ in India. Home to saltwater crocodiles, the park also is the only habitat of the rare and endangered albino estuarine crocodiles. #DekhoApnaDesh,” Pradhan said in another tweet.
“Dense mangrove forests, exciting trekking trails, birds chirping in colonies, creeks and canals teeming with wildlife—Bhitarkanika National Park spoils you for choices. An off-the-beaten track, a visit to Bhitarkanika is a must during this time of the year.#DekhoApnaDesh,” Pradhan added.
Pradhan was visiting the National Park along with Odisha Tourism Secretary Vishal Dev, BJP leaders like State general secretary Golak Mohapatra, MLA Lalitendu Bidhyadhar Mohapatra, Bishnu Das, Dola Nayak, Krushna Chandra Panda, Umakanta Pattnaik and many others from Kendrapara BJP unit.
Bhitarkanika is India’s second largest mangrove ecosystem after the Sunderbans. The National park is essentially a network of creeks and canals which are inundated with waters from rivers Brahmani, Baitarani, Dhamra and Patasala forming a unique ecosystem.
Bhitarkanika is home to the largest congregation of the endangered Salt Water Crocodile in the country. The Salt Water Crocodile is the apex predator of the region, besides it, the park is home to numerous reptiles like the water monitor lizard, pythons to name a few. Bhitarkanika is also home to numerous animals like the deer, hyenas, wild boar etc and migratory birds which make it their home during the winter season lending a vibrant hue to the eco system.
