BHUBANESWAR: After his BJD MLA father Prafulla Samal appeared before ED, son, Lulu Samal on Tuesday faced the wrath of the Central agency in connection with a money laundering case pertaining to Barpada Engineering College in Bhadrak.
MLA Samal had on February 28, appeared before ED while the agency wanted to quiz his son Lulu alias Prayaskanti Samal in this connection. Lulu Samal already reached ED office and facing questions.
With ED continued to haunt MLA Prafulla Samal and his son Lulu , their political career seems look grim in view of the stand of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on corruption. BJD may look for other alternative for Bhandaripokhori Assembly seat instead further keeping faith on Prafulla Samal family to retain this seat. Since ED, started probe , local agitation against MLA Samal and his family also further aggravated.
ED had on February 15 carried out simultaneous raids at multiple places linked to the legislator and his son. The searches were carried out at 10 places in Bhadrak town and Bhubaneswar.
The ED had seized a Fortuner SUV and Rs 9 lakh from the house of Prayaskanti located at Palashpalli in Bhubaneswar. However, the vehicle has been registered in the name of Trishna Skyscraper Limited, a construction company.ED investigation revealed that Prayaskanti, Manoj Kumar Goswami (Secretary) and others
Locals, staffs and employees of Bhadrak Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET) in Barapada have been alleging about massive scam and misappropriation of funds by the management led by Samals. Prayaskanti is the ex-president of BIET. He is accused of embezzling the funds of BIET and buying lands worth crores of rupees in Bhubaneswar.
MLA Samal and his son Lulu may face ugly situation if ED continued its probe till end of elections slated for this year.
