BHUBANESWAR: On Wednesday, a short while ago, Sri Sanghamitra Pattanayak, Asst. Engineer, Balianta Block, Bhubaneswar and his associate, Sri Benudhara Parida (Private Person) have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe from a Contractor ( complainant) Rs. 10,000/- for clearing his final pending bill.
Complainant had been requesting accused AE, Sri Pattanayak to clear his pending amount Rs.42,000/- against the total bill amount Rs.2 Lakhs. But, Sri Pattanayak, AE was demanding bribe Rs 10, 000/- from the complt to clear his outstanding amount even after execution of work by complt. Finding no other way, the complt alleged before the Vigilance authorities, narrating his harassment by accused Sri Pattanayak, AE.
Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed both the accused persons namely Sri Pattanayak, AE and his associate Sri Parida (Private Person), while Sri Pattanayak was taking bribe Rs.10, 000/- through Sri Parida from the complt. The entire bribe money has been recovered from their possession and seized.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations connected to Sri Pattanayak, AE from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 06/2025, U/s 7 & 12 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against both accused AE Sri Sanghamitra Pattanayak and Sri Benudhara Parida (Private Person). Investigation is in progress against the accused persons namely Sri Pattanayak, AE and Sri Parida (Private Person).
