BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: A series of tweets expressing displeasure by BJP National Spokesperson, Dr Sambit Patra has finally yield results with Odisha Government reportedly invited Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandviy, who agreed to join virtually the inauguration of “Sri Jagannath Medical College” in Puri.
“It’s good to learn that finally the Odisha Government called the Union Health Minister Shri
@mansukhmandviya ji to attend the inauguration of “Sri Jagannath Medical College” in Puri scheduled for today. The Union Minister too has agreed to join & address the session Virtually!,” Dr Sambit Patra tweeted.
Earlier, irked over the move of Naveen Patnaik led Government in Odisha to inaugurate the Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Puri without participation of Central Government and as well as Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Dr Patra had demanded immediate action from State Government.
Finding no way out , the State Government forced to invite Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandviy.
‘’Astonishingly the Odisha Govt is inaugurating Sri Jagannath Medical College in Puri tomorrow without a courtesy call to the Central govt to participate in the same as it’s a Centrally Sponsored Scheme under which the College/Hospital has been constructed!,” BJP National Spokesperson, Dr Sambit Patra said had in a series of tweets.
Under the Scheme 157 Medical Colleges have been approved across the country so far. Puri Medical College was approved under Phase 1 of the Central Scheme, the BJP leader said. The total cost for “Puri Medical College” stands at 189 Crore. The Central Government’s Share (Which has been completed paid) : 113.40 Crore. The share of the GOI is 60% in the Construction of Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital, Dr Patra had argued.
“The Health Secretay (GOI) had on 6th Jan 2022 written a letter to inform the Central govt before inaugurating the Centrally sponsored Medical College.I don’t understand what’s the reason behind the clandestine inauguration by CM Odisha without keeping the Central govt in loop!,” the BJP National Spokesperson, had said.
“I humbly believe that without getting into the “Credit War” the Honourable CM Odisha should have made a courtesy call to the Honourable PM to inaugurate the Medical College in Puri. This would have only added to the Mantra “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Vikas & Sabka Prayas”!,” Dr Patra said.
Sources said, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was scheduled dedicate Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital at Puri on Monday. Sources said Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital would have been inaugurated earlier. However, it was delayed as the construction work could not be completed in time, due to the intervention of the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, admission for the first-year MBBS course was concluded.
