Based on the written report of complainant SI Manoj Kumar Rana of Saheednagar PS, the above-noted case was registered and investigation was taken up. Accused Prasanta Pradhan was arrested and forwarded to the court.
The complainant had come across an advertisement on Facebook regarding the sale of a four-wheeler and contacted accused Prasanta Pradhan. On 05.04.2025, they met at Rasulgarh and agreed to a sale price of Rs. 2,70,000/-. On 06.04.2025, an agreement was made, and the complainant paid Rs. 70,000/- to the accused and took possession of the vehicle .
Subsequently, the complainant paid Rs. 70,000/- on 08.04.2025, Rs. 10,000/- on 09.04.2025, Rs. 10,000/- on 12.04.2025, and Rs. 40,000/- on 15.04.2025—amounting to a total of Rs. 1,30,000/-. On 15.04.2025, both the complainant and accused went to RTO-I, Bhubaneswar for ownership transfer, but the accused absconded with the vehicle from the RTO premises.
During investigation, the agreement was seized, and the vehicle was recovered from the possession of accused Prasanta Pradhan in presence of witnesses. The accused confessed to the offence during interrogation.
