CHAMPUA/WEST SINGHBHUM: When locals of Chaliama under West Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat of Jharkhand, are whole heartedly supporting Rungta Mines Ltd’s expansion work that was granted green clearances, the dirty politics adopted by the local MP Gita Koda has created confusion among locals. Wes Singhbhum is largely dominated by Odia population.
In a public hearing held at the project site at Chaliama under Rajnagar block, locals of villages belonging to Chaliama, Banksai and Kuju supported the expansion work as it create both revenue and employment for them.
The Rungta Steel Mines Ltd at Chaliama got the go ahead with the project proposal receiving the environmental nod. The villagers assented to the proposal the path was paved for the expansion programme to commence.The villagers presented their views on the issue of providing environmental clearance to the Rungta expansion project.
Locals welcomed the expansion work that the Rungta Company has already convert arid and barren land into a green-scape. Locals wished that Rungta Company may develop in line with Tata industries so that the local people got more job opportunities.Sources said, when Rungta Company arrived at the place, it had only 25 acres of land and now it has expanded into 480 acres of land giving employment and revenue to the region and Jharkhand. Company is committed to provide basic amenities to people within a 5 kilometer range.
Company officials said the plants have state of the art machinery to ensure safe environmental conditions. He said that 1.80 thousand trees had been planted and plans were afoot to plant 1,500 more trees. A dispensary functions round the close inside the plant premises to take care of health issues. Clean drinking water was being supplied through pipelines in Chaliama village and very soon, the same would be made available to the residents of Kuju and Banksai. The local youth were being provided ITI and Skill Development Training courses.
