BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was on Wednesday  said that allocation of Rs 812 crore for Odisha in FY 2020-21 under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’, a significant jump from last year’s ₹297 crore, is a testimony Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment for Odisha’s development and the move will boost Har Ghar Nal Se Jal Mission in the State.

“Execution of piped water projects to provide equitable, affordable & safe drinking water to all will also increase demand for domestic steel, create job opportunities, boost domestic manufacturing, strengthen #MakeInIndia and contribute to the larger vision of Aatma NirbharBharat,” the Union Minister said in a social media post in facebook.

“Over the years, availability of clean water for drinking and irrigation has been one of the major challenges that has concerned Odisha. #ModiGovt has been working to overcome challenges of water scarcity and provide piped water to rural and interior households in Odisha.According to Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) data from Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, as on 30-11-2019, less than 4% of the 81.25 lakh rural households in Odisha have access to piped water. We are working to provide piped drinking water to all rural HHs.

Cognisant to the needs of Odisha, PM  Narendra Modi has given impetus to strengthening water security in the state,” Pradhan wrote in his post.“Government  under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi ji has assiduously worked for a better tomorrow by envisaging a #NewIndia. After sanitation, water security is the new goal for aspirational India. Our government is working on a mission mode to ensure #HarGharNalSeJal by 2024.Empowering citizens, facilitating ease-of-living and furthering quality of life at the grassroots has been at the core of PM Modi’s governance,” Pradhan said.

“PM Narendra Modi ji exhorted from the Red Fort that he is tirelessly committed to fulfill the aspirations of citizens.Today, access to safe drinking water has caught the imagination of the people and become part of public discourse. It is PM Shri Narendra Modi’s indomitable will to address the most pressing issue of our times that has transformed the Jal Jeevan Mission into a mass revolution. We have been successful in connecting more than 1 lakh households with piped drinking water on a daily basis. #ModiGovt is working with speed, scale and skill to ensure accessibility of clean water and a functional tap connection to every rural household in the country,” he added.
