BARGARH: With Bijepur by-polls slated for October 21, District Police have seized a cash of Rs 19 lakh from a car during a vehicle inspection in Barpali area.

Police have intensified patrolling and checking in view of the by-polls. Police sources said that car owner is a Chhattisgarh based trader and was identified as  Parag Agrawal, a resident of Bagbahara in the neighbouring State. Police have taken the accused into custody and interrogating at Barpali Police Station.

BJD candidate Rita Sahu, Congress’ Dillip Panda and Sanat Gadtia of BJP are in fray. The by polls necessitated after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who had won from two seats, vacated Bijepur in Western Odisha district of Bargarh and kept his traditional Hinjili in South Odisha’s Ganjam district.

Three major parties BJD, BJP and Congress have pressed their senior leaders for campaigning while Chief Minister Patnaik will also hit the street for his Party candidate Rita Sahu.
