RPF Detects 42.6 Kg Silver Jewellery in Ernakulam-Tata Express

BHUBANESWAR/SAMBALPUR: Crime Intelligence Branch of RPF,Sambalpur Divn detected carrying of 42.6 kgs of silver jewellery from two persons travelling in berths-30&32,S-7 of train no.12890, Ernakulam-Tata Express today.As they could not produce proper documents,police and tax authorities were contacted.

The name & address of both persons are 1. Sheik Dawood, aged@ 58 yrs, S/o: Kasim, 2.  Kaja, S/o- Sheik Dawood,aged@40 yrs,both residents of 12-239B, Neimandi, Arunachalam Street, Annathanapatti, Kattu Valavu Sandhu, Salem , Tamilnadu-636006. Officer of State tax Enforcement Unit , Sambalpur attended & conducted necessary verification. 

It was found that part of the consignment were supported with valid GST document whereas balance quantity  i.e. @37 kgs are not supported with valid documents.Both were asked to pay the penalty   U/S 129 of the GST Act amounting Rs. 1,55,524.00 vide money receipt No-20409 Dt-26.07.2022. After taking fine,GST authorities handed over the entire silver materials to the party.
