Puri: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan pattnaik condemn the terrorist attack at Pathankot air base with message “stop terrorism”, through his sand art at puri beach of Odisha on Saturday.
As many as three Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel were martyred and four terrorists were gunned down after suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists stormed an air force base at Pathankot in Punjab, early on Saturday morning. According to reports, the terrorists, who were dressed in army clothes, launched attacked at the air base at around 3 am. They made their way to the base from the back side where there is a jungle, reports said.
Notably, security forces in the state were on alert after Intelligence inputs warned about possibility of an attack at the base yesterday after a police personnel of Gurdaspur was assaulted by the terrorists. The terrorists reportedly took away the police officer’s car after assaulting him and also snatched his phone.
Meanwhile, according to the latest report, administration has tightened security arrangements in the national capital New Delhi today to avoid any similar development. Surveillance has been put in place in several areas of the capital, including popular market places and VIP movement zones. Special Police Commissioner (Law and Order) is taking stock of the situation. In addition, CB officials along with personnel from special cell of Delhi Police have also been pressed into action. Security unit has been intimated to form a strategy to combat any similar activity in the city.
The attack is suspected to have been carried out by the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). In July, heavily armed men in army fatigues sprayed bullets on a moving bus and stormed Dinanagar police station in Gurdaspur district bordering Pakistan, killing six people and injuring eight.
