RD Women’s University Convocation: 49 Students felicitated with Gold Medals

BHUBANESWAR:   As many as 49 students were felicitated with gold medals during an award distribution ceremony, an extension to the convocation of Rama Devi Women’s University here on Saturday.

Attending the ceremony as chief guest, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of SC&ST Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Development Roopa Roshan Sahoo, an alumna of the university, asserted that the joy of learning is the process of learning.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp and the welcome address by Shyamali Mohapatra, the Registrar of the university. Mohapatra laid stress that the growth and vision of the university rests on the efforts of students.

Sahoo shared her precious student life experience being an alumna of this institution. She called upon the students to emulate the spirit of deep listening which is instrumental for students’ overall growth. “This institution let me the confidence to ask questions”, Sahoo added.

Vice-chancellor of the university Prof. Aparajita Chowdhury addressed the gathering and stated that the girls are the reservoir of talents. Prof. Chowdhury suggested that students should not over-rely on the technologies all the time. Gold medalists are not the mere gold medalists rather they are the role models of women empowerment and inclusive development, she added.

Chairperson of PG Council Prof. Chandi Charan Rath was present and graced the occasion. Dr. Mamata Mohanty, the Controller of Examination offered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with the screening of Documentary film on the life of President of India Droupadi Murmu “Rama Devi Ru Raisina” produced by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the University.

On the occasion, 2019 batch students received 14 gold medals, 2020 batch received 15 and 2021 batch received 19 gold medals.
