BHUBANESWAR: The ruling BJD led by Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, on Sunday nominated 3 new faces including a woman candidate and allowed its sitting MP Dr Sasmit Patra for second term for the 4 Rajya Sabha seats, that will go polls in June .
“The BJD President Naveen Patnaik has nominated Dr Sasmit Patra, Manas Mangaraj, Sulata Deo and Niranjan Bisi for the 4 vacant posts of Rajya Sabha,” BJD Organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das said in a statement.
Sulata Deo is Party’s spokesperson while Managaraj’s is Government’s media advisor while Bishi was selected as a tribal face, party sources said.
Polling for three Rajya Sabha seats will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on June 10 while counting of votes will take place at 5 PM on the very day.
However , bypoll to one Rajya Sabha seat from Odisha will be held from 9 am to 4 pm on June 13. The counting of votes will take place at 5 pm on the same day.
