BHUBANESWAR: ଭାରତୀୟ ଜନତା ପାର୍ଟିର କେନ୍ଦ୍ରୀୟ ନିର୍ବାଚନ କମିଟି ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ହେବାକୁ ଥିବା ବିଧାନସଭା ଉପ-ନିର୍ବାଚନ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥୀ ଘୋଷଣା କରିଛନ୍ତି ।ବ୍ରଜରାଜନଗର ପାଇଁ ପୂର୍ବତନ ବିଧାୟିକା ଶ୍ରୀମତି ରାଧାରାଣୀ ପଣ୍ଡାଙ୍କୁ ଦଳ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥୀ କରିଛି ।
The BJP was the first among the State’s three major political parties to declare its by-poll nominee after the party’s central election committee cleared Panda’s name.
Radharani Panda is a former MLA having been elected from Brajrajnagar in the 2014 polls defeating her nearest BJD rival Anup Kumar Sai. However, Panda lost to the BJD’s Kishore Kumar Mohanty in the 2019 elections.
The by-poll, which is scheduled to be held on May 31, has been necessitated by the death of Mohanty on December 30, 2021 due to cardiac arrest. The counting of votes will take place on June 3.
The BJD and the Congress are yet to announce their candidates. The State Congress has recommended to the AICC the name of former Minister and former Assembly Speaker Kishore Patel as its nominee. While the BJD’s Jharsuguda unit has left selection of the party’s candidate to its supremo Naveen Patnaik, there are speculations that Kishore Mohanty’s widow Alaka Mohanty may be the choice.
