BHUBANESWAR: Rabi Chhotray, the name is enough for any of the 3 Assembly segments of Bhubaneswar and lone Lok Sabha seat. Whether it is Bhubaneswar Central or Ekamra or Bhubaneswar North, Rabi Chhotray’s Organisational network, has been paying good dividends for ruling BJD in Bhubaneswar’s most of the MLA seats and well as Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
Active in politics since 1978, Chhotray had come in close contact with late legendary late Biju Patnaik and till date, he remained as one of trusted follower of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and was a prominent face in non-Congress politics in State Capital of Bhubaneswar.
As Party’s Observer and now President Bhubaneswar Central Assembly segment, Chhotray never missed a single stone unturned to increase BJD’s vote share in any of these 3 MLA seats and lone Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat, sources said.
In BMC elections, Chhotray had played a key role in BJD’s spectacular victory and he was one the key brains behind the massive victory of Mayor Sulochana Das.
Chhotray’s organisational networks spreads from Bhubaneswar Central to North and to Ekamra and he always maintained a very cordial relationship with 3 sitting MLAs of BJD including Sushant Rout of Bhubaneswar North, Anata Jena of Bhubaneswar Central and Minister Ashok Panda of Bhubaneswar Ekamra , and all ruling Party corporators of BMC. Chhotray was seen all most all Party activities in Bhubaneswar and outside but he never expect anything from Party, sources said.
Sources said, due to Chhotray’s pro-active and pro-people approach, BJD’s vote share has increased impressively under Bhubaneswar Central Assembly seat held by BJD’s Anata Jena aka Bunu, and all most all Corporators under this MLA seats have also benefited out of it considering their performances in last BMC polls. Hailing from a very humble family in Jatni in Khurda, Chhotray spent most of his time in Bhubaneswar because of Party work and activities and despite ill health, he continued his service for the Party and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, sources added.
