PURI/BHUBANESWAR: On Wednesday evening, received information from a reliable source regarding plying of a bus, carrying passengers, having no valid Route Permit is about to leave Puri towards Kolkata.
On receipt of such information, MVI along with his Asst. MVI and staff proceeded towards Malatipatapur to verify the veracity of the information. They checked the vehicle and found that the bus, bearing Regn. No. OD 01 AS/ 3741 was actually playing from the aforementioned place, carrying 25 passengers to Kolkata, having No Route Permit, No D.L and No. Conductor’s Licence. On breathing test, it was further ascertained that the driver was under the influence of liquor.
Accordingly e-challan was issued against the people on the erring side and a sizeable amount of fine i.e Rs 40,500/- was imposed on them. When they failed to compound those offences and pay the fine, imposed on them, the vehicle, in question was seized and detained inside the premises of Sadar P.S, Puri, obsering required formalities.
Another bus, having All India permit was provided to those passengers for their journey to Kolkata. As a result of which, invariably all the passengers appreciated the lawful action of the RTO, Puri for saving their lives by taking appropriate action against the delinquent driver, who was driving the bus, under the influence of liquor.The breathing test result is 120 mg/ 100 ml.
