PURI:Puri district level Mandia Day was celebrated at the Saddhavana Hall. Additional District Magistrate Administration Sarat Chandra Behera was the chief guest and said that Mandia is rich in health and nutrition.

He called upon us to jointly make the government’s efforts to further promote the use of Mandia and reach the world level successful. Currently, Mandia has been included in Anganwadi and schools, and the demand for various Mandia-based food items is increasing in various canteens, hotels, government meetings, state and national programs. Shri Behera informed that the government is also encouraging farmers to cultivate Mandia.

Chief District Agriculture Officer Satya Narayan Kar presided over the event and welcomed everyone. Mandia is cultivated on about 200 hectares of land in Krishna Prasad block of our Puri district. Shri Kar informed that a target of 300 quintals of Mandia has been set for this year and incentives are being given for Mandia cultivation and auxiliary equipment, he said. Among others, Deputy Director of Horticulture Dr. Manjula Tripathi, Senior Scientist of Sakshi Gopal Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dr. Surya Narayan Mishra, Sakshi Gopal Agriculture Officer Dr. Paresh Kumar Panda participated prominently and discussed about Mandia Day.
