NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday wrote a letter to Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman requesting her to provide Rs 3 lakh loan to milk farmers of OMFED.
Pradhan’s letter to Sitharaman came following a farmer Durba Charan Parida of Khandasahi under Tirtol block of Jagatsinghpur in Odisha alleged that despite several provisions, Banks are not showing interest to sanction loans to milk farmers in the district. Parida had written to Union Minister Pradhan about how Banks are not supporting them and how milk farmers of Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur facing hardship since COVID-19 outbreak.
Citing an Oder of Union Finance Ministry bearing no-AM-010071512020 dated 27-07-2020, in which, a direction was made to provide Rs 3 lakhs loan to OMFED milk farmers, Pradhan requested Sitharaman to look into the issue as the milk farmers are facing lot of hardship since COVID-19 outbreak.
