BHUBANESWAR:  Odisha Chief Secretary PK Jena on Saturday chaired the the 122nd SLSWCA meeting and approved 19 projects, cementing our position as an investment hotspot.

These projects in textiles, plastics, steel and renewable energy sectors with Rs 3663 Crores of investment will create 13663 jobs across 10 districts.

Development Commissioner Anu Garg, industry Secretary Hemant Sharma and other senior officials were among those present. Details coming .

The steel sector has experienced significant growth due to investments from several companies, including Rungta Mines Limited, Nezone Steel Utkal LLP, Advance Steel Tubes Limited, Nirmal Steels Private Limited,  Ferro Tech India Private Limited and Super Sonic Logistics Private Limited.

These companies have collectively invested over Rs 2,000 crore in Kalinganagar, Dhenkanal and Sundergarh regions. Nezone Steel Utkal LLP is now expanding its manufacturing capacity with the establishment of their second unit.

The EPIC Group, an apparel manufacturer based in Hong Kong and renowned for serving some of the world’s leading brands, is poised to bolster foreign direct investment (FDI) in Odisha. Trimetro Garments India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the EPIC Group, is planning to invest Rs 376.85 crore for establishing its apparel manufacturing facility in Khurda district. The project is likely to generate employment opportunities for 7,050 people. Time Technoplast Limited and Oricon Enterprise Limited are all set to boost the plastic sector with their manufacturing units in Khurda with investments worth Rs 57 crore and Rs 90.00 crore respectively.

In the renewable energy sector, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) and Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGCL) are launching solar power plants with investments worth Rs 297.61 crore and Rs 215 crore respectively.

The Agro and Food Processing sectors are poised to benefit from its homegrown companies with the establishment of Pragati Milk Products Pvt. Ltd.’s ice-cream and baked product manufacturing plant in Chandanpur and Coastal Biotech Private Limited’s modern rice mill in Paralakhemundi.

Infrastructure development is likely to get stimulus with the setting up of private freight terminals by Koli Commercial LLP and Vimla Infrastructure (India) Pvt Ltd under the Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Terminal scheme.

Krupalu Kunja will set up a compressed bio gas and fermented organic manure plant in Jajpur with annual capacity 46,000 MT by investing Rs 73.25 crore. The project has the potential to create employment opportunities for 138 individuals.

Odisha’s tourism sector is set to shine brighter with the expansion of Mayfair Hotels & Resorts Ltd’s convention centre at Paradeep in Jagatsinghpur. At least 20 more rooms will be built under the expansion plan, said the official.
