Probe into Rehman links: Odisha police teams return from Delhi, Jharkhand

Bhubaneswar: Two special squads of Odisha Police, which went to Delhi and Jharkhand to gather more information about the activities of arrested suspected Al-Qaeda operative Abdur Rehman; have returned after concluding their probe.

According to sources, the teams have gathered vital information about Rehman’s links, the objective behind setting up his madrasa and his network in the State.

Moreover, Commissionerate Police have also obtained information from Delhi police about the money trail of transactions on his bank and trust accounts, informed sources.

Notably, a joint team of Odisha police and Delhi police special cell arrested the 37-year-old cleric from Cuttack district for his alleged links with terrorist organisation Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). Rehman was running the madrasa at Tangi, 25 km from the Millennium City, for the past two years and had appointed five teachers.
