NEW DELHI/PURI: The President Ram Nath Kovind has sent his greetings to fellow citizens on the eve of Deepawali. In his message, the President has said, “On the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, I convey greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad.
Deepawali marks the triumph of hope over despair, good over evil and light over darkness. Let us on this day try to bring happiness in the lives of those who are less fortunate and needy by lighting the lamp of love, care and sharing. May this festival of lights radiate happiness, peace and prosperity in every home across the country”.
The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has greeted the Nation on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali/ Diwali. In a message, he said that this ‘festival of lights’ is the celebration of perpetual power of the good and its capability to conquer all evil. It tells us that truth and virtue alone triumph in the end.
“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali.Deepawali is heralded as one of the most significant festivals of India and is celebrated across the country and throughout the world.
Deepawali or the ‘festival of lights’ is the celebration of the perpetual power of the good and its capability to conquer all evil. It tells us that truth and virtue alone triumph in the end. It inspires us to move from darkness towards light, from ignorance towards wisdom and from melancholy towards bliss.
Diwali is the harbinger of hope and beckons to us to take the initiative to light a lamp rather than cursing the darkness. It is also a celebration of the light of humanity that burns within each and every one of us that is capable of showing us the path of righteousness even at the darkest of the times. Deepawali urges us to keep this light burning bright so that we may continue to endeavor to build a better, more humane, peaceful and compassionate world.May this festival bring harmony, prosperity and happiness in our lives.”
Meanwhile, on golden beach of Puri in Odisha, International sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo has created a sand sculptor on accasion of Diwali and Kali Puja.
As the goddess Kali had saved the world from the demons of atrocities by bringing the world to light from darkness, in the same way goddess Kali has descended in the art made of sand by international sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo, with a prayer to rescue the world from evils and atrocities, for the protection of our nation and for the destruction of evil from our society. The artist has also prayed that on this occasion of holy Dipawali the whole world to get illumined and filled with peace and prosperity.
The artist also appeals everyone to celebrate the occasion by lightning a candle only without polluting the atmosphere by bursting crackers. In the sand art the message given is “ not cracker but bring smile in people’s face”. “ Say no to crackers”.This sand art is of 15ft in width, and some 10 tonnes of sand is used to make it. It took Mr. Sahoo nearly three hours to create it.
