NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: The President Kovind presented Vir Chakra to Naib Subedar Naduram Soren, of Odisha, who worked with 16th Battalion, Bihar Regiment (Posthumous) at the Defence Investiture Ceremony. He fought bravely against Chinese troops in Galwan Valley. His wife received the award from President Kovind.
Martyr Nuduram Soren belonged to Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. He was one of the 20 soldiers who was martyred at the Galwan valley along the India-China border during a violent border clash with the Chinese troops in 2020.Soren was part of the 16th Bihar regiment
The President Kovind, presented Gallantry Awards and Distinguished Service Decorations for the year 2021 at the Defence Investiture Ceremony-I held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
This was the first set of awards for the year 2021, the second set of awards will be presented this evening at the Defence Investiture Ceremony-II.
