BHUBANESWAR: The online auction for the Jajang-A Iron and Manganese Block, located in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, which is a significant mineral-rich area, began on Thursday at a premium of 101.21 Percent, reached 104.26 Percent till last reports came in. Jajang-A Iron and Manganese Block has Resource- 2.19 MT Manganese @ 14.68% Mn and 16.05 MT Iron Ore @50.68% Fe.
It is a 68.436-hectare block containing 16.05 million tonnes of resources, including 6.31 million tonnes of high-grade ore. It is being auctioned as a virgin block.
Jajang-A block was part of a group of 12 mineral blocks in Odisha that attracted multiple bidders, including major industry players.
The area is designed for semi-mechanized opencast mining, with projected production of 0.36 million tonnes per annum for iron ore and 0.01 million tonnes per annum for manganese ore.
The block is located in the Barbil region of the Keonjhar district. It has been noted for containing both iron and manganese ore, with potential for further exploration.
