BHUBANESWAR: The State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday given its nod for the Rs 268.11 Crore drinking water project, for people of Aul and Rajkanika in Kendrapara , tender work of which , was earlier bagged by construction major, L&T by offering lowest price for the project construction.
The Cabinet nod to this mega project planned under State Government’s flagship, Basudha Scheme, has brought huge solace for local BJD MLA and former Minister Pratap Keshari Deb , who has been trying very hard to implement this welfare project, which would feed around 60 Panchayats under Aul Assembly segment.
Basudha Scheme is the Odisha’s potable Water scheme. It will provide the best quality standard parameter drinking water. After completion of the project, the shortage of potable will be fulfill according to the need in Rajkanika and Aul blocks of Kendrapara, sources added.
The State Cabinet approved the lowest tender of L&T, Chennai, India amounting to Rs. 227,91,40,000 for execution of the rural piped water supply project under one package in Kendrapara district. The work is targeted for completion within a period of 24 months.
By execution of these projects, 2,74,836 people of 274 villages of 65 GPs under 04 Blocks of the District will be provided with safe drinking water. On this account, 1,32,890 people of 122 villages under 31 GPs of Aul Block; 1,30,496 people of 145 villages under 29 GPs of Rajkanika Block; 10,266 people of 05 villages under 04 GPs of Pattamundai Block and 1,184 people of 02 villages under 01 GP of Rajnagar Block of the District will be benefited.
The State Government have prioritized on providing safe drinking water to the people living in the rural areas for which, it has been decided by the Government for execution of 2 nos. of Rural Piped Water Supply Projects under one package to provide safe drinking water in Khordha District out of JJM funding.Now, the State Cabinet have approved the lowest tender of L&T Chennai, India amounting to Rs. 348,10,00,000 for execution of the work within a period of 24 months.
As many 10 mega rural pipe water supply schemes in Aul, Rajkanika, Chilika, Tangi, Banpur, Khordha, Jatani, Gondia, Bhubana, Golaminda, Jajpur and Binjharpur blocks were got Cabinet nod.
The State has also decided to create a new department namely, the Department of Mission Shakti to strengthen women Self Help Groups (SHGs).The State Cabinet approved a proposal from the General Administration and Public Grievance department to bring the Directorate of Mission Shakti and Odisha Livelihood Mission (OLM) under the Department of Mission Shakti. Worth mentioning, the Chief Minister announced on March 8, 2020, on the State government’s plan to carve out a separate department for SHGs.
The State Cabinet also approved a proposal from the Steel and Mines department to allow the State-owned OMC Limited to sell the entire quantity of bauxite ore meant for sale through national e-auction for the financial year 2020-21 to long term linkage supplier, Vedanta Ltd. The sale price will be Rs 1000 per metric tonne.
Also, OMC will provide an undertaking to pay the differential rate as stipulated by the Orissa High Court. This shall be done as one-time measure limited to FY2020-21, the official further said. The government also decided to lease out government land measuring 12.09 decimals in Samalpur village and 12.91 decimals in Bamapada village under Remuna tahasil of Balasore district free of cost in favour of the Department of Health and Family Welfare under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for establishment of a satellite centre of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.A total of 16 proposals were approved by the State Cabinet during today’s meeting.
