BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallick , who was named as BJD candidate, on Thursday filed her nomination papers for the election to Speaker of the Odisha Assembly.
Mallick, Odisha Revenue & Disaster Management Minister, filed her papers at Assembly Secretariat and handed over her papers to Assembly Secretary Dasarathi Satpathy.
Ministers Pradip Amat, Prafulla Mallick, Niranjan Pujari, Priti Ranjan Ghadai, MLA Sushant Rout, Dhurba Sahoo, Byamokesh Ray and others were among those present.
Election for the Odisha Assembly Speaker will be held on September 22, the day on which the monsoon session of the Assembly begins. The election for the post of Speaker will be held at 9.30 a.m. on September 22.
The six-time MLA Mallick, who currently represents, Binjharpur Assembly seat in Jajpur, had contested the State assembly election for the first time in 1990 on a Janata Dal ticket. Later, she won the elections in 2000, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019 on the BJD ticket.
