Pralhad Joshi-Naveen Jindal Condoles Death of Veteran Cricketer Yashpal Sharma

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: Union Coal ,Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Jindal Steel and Power Limited Chairman and former Lok Sabha MP, Naveen Jindal on Tuesday condole the death of Former India batsman Yashpal Sharma, a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning side, who passed away on Tuesday at his home in Noida. He was 66.

“Yashpal Sharma’s performance in the 1983 World Cup will be forever etched on our hearts. Saddened by the demise of this legendary batsman. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.#YashpalSharma,” Union Coal ,Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi tweeted @JoshiPralhad.

“Sad to hear of the demise of cricketer #YashpalSharma ji. Condolences to his family and loved ones. Prayers for the departed soul, Om ShantiFolded hands,” JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal tweeted @MPNaveenJindal.

Sharma suffered a heart attack after returning from morning walk and collapsed at around 7.30 am.The right-handed batsman, who was the backbone of India’s middle-order in the 1983 World Cup, played 37 Test matches, scoring 1606 runs, and 42 ODIs scoring 883 runs. He also played 160 first-class matches, representing Punjab, Haryana and Railways, and scored 8933 runs.
