NEW DELHI:Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today celebrated Tamil Nadu’s most important festival ‘Pongal’ by dressing up in traditional attire with students and teachers at the IIT Madras campus in Chennai.
Shri Pradhan joined the event held at the community hall of the institute and enjoyed the festival of harvest. On this occasion, Shri Pradhan greeted the people of Tamil Nadu and said that Pongal is a symbol of gratitude, prosperity and cultural heritage. It reflects the spirit of solidarity and unity in our society. The festival has created a grand atmosphere in the educational arena and has further strengthened the unity among the diverse Indian cultures.
The Minister expressed his happiness to spend time with the IIT Madras family and wished everyone good health, peace, prosperity and a happy life. The special occasion was attended by Shri Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, faculty from various departments, students and staff.
After this, Shri Pradhan interacted with the volunteers of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 and felicitated them. During this visit, the Minister was accorded a grand welcome by IIT Madras.
